The Our Story Scholarship

Scholarship totaling $10,000 available to high-school and undergraduate students.

Charles Wright created the “Our Story scholarship to encourage the youth to take more interest in learning African American History. Wright’s book “Up From Where We’ve Come” gives readers a first hand experience of living in the racially segregated Mississippi Delta during the Jim Crow Era. Wright believes the youth can benefit from reading his own personal story, which is told through the eyes of a child.

By reading his story, students can thoroughly understand how history has shaped the face of America today. This scholarship provides an opportunity for students to showcase what they learned by reading “Up From Where We’ve Come” and how they can use the knowledge to influence future generations.
